Laura Elizondo participated in the national beauty pageant Nuestra Belleza Mexico was held in San Luis Potosi on September 10, 2004. She obtained the title of Miss Mexico Universe 2004 which gave her the right to represent Mexico in the Miss Universe 2005 Pageant held in Bangkok, Thailand on May 31, 2005. Laura Elizondo placed as the third runner-up to Natalie Glebova of Canada. She also placed third in Best National Costume. Elizondo stated that although she did not win, she was satisfied with the results as well as her accomplishments within the competition.
