Thelma Rodríguez studies tourist and hotel administration in the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua in Leon. She was crowned Miss Nicaragua 2008 by the former Miss Nicaragua 2007, Xiomara Blandino which held in the Ruben Dario in Managua, where Thelma represented Nicaragua in Miss Universe 2008 pageant held in Vietnam on July 13, 2008, unfortunately she failed to place in the final pageant. On November 2008 she made a second attempt for the crown at the Miss Earth Pageant was held in Philippines and was among the favorite delegates but failed to place.
